Did the D4 (UK-spec) come with rear aircon at any point. The topix manual shows it but doesn't look like it did. Without it, is it just the 2 crotch-height round vents in the back of the centre console?
Won't stop me getting a D4, just wondering if there's certain ones I should look out for. Doesn't look like anyone plumped the 2.5k for the RSE either Shame, as having read on here how difficult it is to add it it doesn't look so good.

I think the rear air con is only available on certain overseas market vehicles. It used to be available on previous Discovery models in the UK.
There are some UK D4's going about with the RSE fitted............ 2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

... I think, that "dual zone front Climate Control Air Conditioning" means left and right temperature control, there is nothing written about rear climate.
Even on the photo with the rse monitors, you can see, that the climate controls and air outlets in the roof are missing.
I have a US LR4 with rear air con. In the LR Topix system it is named "REAR SEAT CLIMATE CONTROL". You have air controls and outlets in the roof (where the lights are) and in the boot on the left side (behind the hatch where the hook of the tow bar is) you can see the rear air condition compressor.
In Germany the option is also available, an option in the pricelist. But in the UK list I can't find it.

From another recent thread on here, it maybe that the rear air con was ditched because of premature component failure, but I don't think that LR will admit to that in public.

What is more than likely is that it was dropped from the UK option list because people simply weren't ordering it....... lets face it our climate doesn't really make it essential, does it?!
Come to think of it, I can't think of any other car that comes with two air vents for the second row (the ones at the rear of the centre cubby box) as standard.......... 2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

Our old D3 HSE had a lot more extras than the new D4 HSE which we now own.
Rear aircon in the load space was very helpful having dog's they seemed to like it on the D3, we now have to keep an eye on this a bit more having a D4 where it is not available.
D3 HSE came with the cool box and D4 without, I had to buy one from the dealer and fit it my self.
The impression with D4 HSE is that land rover have saved money where possible by deleting many of the little comfort extras that were previously on the D3.
Shame as the little extras do come in handy and you get used to them.

All our HSE editions come with the rear aircon, which is a boon in the heat. HSE Luxury comes with RSE included

I was able to spec. rear aircon on my Swiss spec. Works well but the roof mounted controls are somewhat tricky to adjust from the driver's seat! MY11 D4 SDV6 SE LHD (with remote park heater, heated seats in row 2, heated steering wheel and rear HVAC controls!)

When I ordered my 2012 HSE last year I was told that you can spec rear air con as a special option in the UK, obviously at a price.
I think there is some confusion in the above replies with rear air con and RSE which is not the same thing. RSE means REAR SEAT ENTERTAINMENT, clearly not the same thing.
