can someone tell me what the point is of the boot open button on the fob if youve got keyless entry
all that happens when i press it is that it releases the first stage of the catch but still holds on the second
if the upper tailgate auto opened fully it would be great but mine dosent ..so should it do this ?

They're all like that and I agree it would be great if you pressed the button and the top tail gate opened fully Cheers Ian

completely pointless when you have keyless entry then as you can just open anyway ...its a shame as loads of cars do it Q7 for example so surprised the disco dosent do it

Hi I have keyless entry which works fine on all 4 doors, but I can’t walk up to my tailgate and pull the handle and it opens, I have to press the button on my key fob to make it unlock before I then press the button on tailgate to open it, I have spoken to my local independent LR garage and they tell me it’s right, that’s how it’s meant to work, surely not?

My 13 MY D4 allows the boot lid to
Open without unlocking first if you have the key with you.
I remember reading that stiffer struts from (I think) SGS allow the boot lid to pop open when the release is pressed on the fob but haven’t tried it myself Must stop buying shiny toys....

Thanks just as I thought it should work. My tailgate is not sensing that I have the key fob with me, I wonder if anyone can shed some light on where and what and how to check the aerial/ receiver that I’m guessing would be located in the tailgate or maybe in my case not

The latch is "missing" a "memory" function, that would stop it from latching in its secondary position once released. A bit of a backward step as the P38 Range Rover did have the memory function, and needed 1 release motor and one pushbutton to operate both upper and lower, so less to go wrong.
Adding stronger struts, pushers etc would just make the thing more difficult to close, it is bad enough as it is!
