Good news
I wonder if Land Rover have discovered anti-corroding properties of copper/copper nickel yet or if they are still made from mild steel?
If it's still made of steel, I can't see the point in this. Better off replacing with copper. 2021 BMW iX3 Premier Edition in Carbon Black ⚡️🔌

Not wishing to appear too thick, but am I right in thinking that this is just an easier way of brake pipe replacement to reduce cost, rather than JLR accepting that its a poor choice of materials and replacing them FOC. CGA

I order brake pipe in 100 rolls at a time, JLR do not have the monopoly on using steel pipe by any means!
What the TSB does is to allow the dealer to make a sensibly priced repair without removing the body

And if they are just replacing like for like then its a waste of time, I would sooner replace with copper pipe, job done then.

Given the comment made here from a customer contact with JLR about oil pumps not being an issue and we are all just panic mongering on the forum perhaps there is nothing wrong with the rusty brake pipes either Paul Redding

What are the specs on copper pipe, if I go this route?
Anything special about it?

Some countries do not allow copper/ copper based brake pipe as replacements as there have been failures due to fatigue and believe it or not, corrosion issues. ABS/DSC/TC and HD all put very high loads on brake systems

This is interesting.... JLR dealer didn't offer me the "Technical Bulletin LTB00650" option (on 3rd item below).
Service to a 57 LD3 @ 56K miles
JLR (Taggarts) Glasgow quote of July2014:
7th year service
1. Belts £1800.00
2. Filters and Oil £399.95
3. Front to rear brake pipes burst (leaking) £1,831.28
4. Both front track rod ends worn. £410.54
5. Both front lower suspension arms worn. £1157.35
6. Transfer case control module corroded (required for xy sensor ) £383.20
7. Clutch advisory £1888.60
8. Spare wheel winch seized £186.96
= £8,057.88
Particularly interesting was the £4.74 I was charged (included in item 2) for Screen Wash, despite my topping it up to full prior taking it to them!
Oh nearly forgot.... they quoted another £772.20 for 4 Geolandar A/T-S Tyres, but I opted to fit Cooper Discoverer AT3 via Blackcircle for £504 instead.

Taggarts. Never noticed that part. Lost count of the amount of people who have come to me, from Taggarts after being quoted horrific repair costs.
Most shocking one was over £3000 for front to rear brake pipes, and rear discs pads
Never seen a quote of over £8,000 though. That would buy a whole Disco 3
In all honesty, barring the clutch, you will see plenty of change from £2,000 to do the rest of the work. My D3 Build Thread
