Rear Brake Pipes Corroded (Sussex)

Hello,

I have the usual rear brake pipe corroded advisories on my D3. I have spent many hours reading the threads on this forum and discovered the repair method. I gather the pipes need joining underneath and replacing from that point all the way to the rear. My usual garage don't seem too keen as I don't think they have done it before. They have given me the option of replacing the entire length for £400. I gather from the forum the repair should be cheaper...?

Please can someone recommend a garage or technician in the Brighton/Hove/Sussex area who is well practiced in this and advise what cost I should be looking at?

Thanks,
Olly

Olly,

Any competent garage can do it .... all they need to do is cut the original line near the suspension air reservoir... providing they have a flaring tool that can flare the original pipe in situ the rest is fairly simple.
I would advise changing all of the flexible pipes as well....it’s worth looking at the front flexible pipes as well.. the metal Union part normally corrodes heavily ...it’s worth doing them all at the same time!

Little bit far away from you but AHL Engineering near Maidstone have done hundreds of them!
