Rear Bumper Removal

Hi

Is there a guide on how to remove the rear bumper on a D4 with parking sensors? I saw on another thread someone who'd taken their's off to remove rust and repaint, and I'm thinking I should do the same.

I've seen a PDF of how it works on a D3, but I don't know if it's the same instructions for a MY10 D4 HSE.

Anyone who's done this already - any hints or tips?

I just did it during the week to my D3
easy enough process but the metal on one mud flap was well gone and I had to fabricate a new one.

On the D3 the parking sensor connector can be accessed from the nearside, once the light unit is removed.

Mine wasn't too bad, just a bit scabby around the towbar receiver, forgot the before piccies though

Incidentally, when did Hammerite lose its bite, used it in the past and would suffer sore throats for days if I didn't have a mask on.

I jacked it up at the back a little as I couldn't be bothered to remove the wheels to be able to access the middle screw on the mudflap

It’s not hard to remove, pdc is just a single plug on the LHS below the lights. Same with tow electrics. Mud flaps off, rear qtr panel arches removed, lights removed and the the bumper itself. 2 10mm bolts, 4 screws underneath (I suggest having replacements) and then trim clips under the boot flap. Awkward to get at - a canted trim removal tool helps. Bumper is clipped at the sides below the lights. Pull out and back to release

hammerite

hi. re hammerite loosing its bite several years ago hammerite changed I used to paint everything in hammerite. even brush painted the petrol tank on a suzuki gt185 with it and made a very good job of it, the make up of the old hammerite would dry in several hours and be ready for a second coat the new make up needs it to have over night drying before a second coat. its still ok but nowhere as good as the old hammerite , cheers. alan.
