Rear camera guide lines

New to D4, picked it up yesterday. Traded in my Jag XF so nav / media etc. is familiar. On the Jag, when reversing, the guide lines on the rear camera display would curve in harmony with the steering. However on the D4 they remain straight.

1. They all do that, Sir

2. They’re broken

If it’s 2, any ideas on how to remedy?

Smile

Think they are fixed lines on the 2012 model, pretty sure mine were, the later ones with the Gen 2.1 system they move with the steering.

I think they are bendy if you have surround cameras, but not 100% sure.

My HSE has a rear camera, without surround cameras and they are fixed lines.

mine are fixed on a 2011(61) facelift with no apparent option to change them or even turn them off, seems pretty useless just having them fixed tbh.

with regards Gen 2.1 systems, what is the system in the early 2011> facelifts ? as its the same front screen as the Gen 2.1

They bend if “hitch assist” is fitted, it may be possible to enable hitch assist in the CCF.

2010 to 14 the lines won’t bend unless you have surround cameras.

2014 to 16 the lines bend.

Gen 2.1 was introduced in 2012 so has no bearing.

Supposedly it MIGHT be possible to upgrade to the late model camera, run some canbus wires to it to get it to provide curved lines. The camera needs canbus to get the steering inputs to provide the curving lines if you use a camera that supports it. Can't say it's worth it.

You would also need the SASM if the vehicle isn’t fitted with one. The problem would be if the CAN will support it and if so, which CCF edits would need to be made. And of cause which CAN, MS or HS?

Hmmm. You shouldn’t need ccf or SASM. The camera produces the lines in the video and transposes them onto to image before being sent to the display as I understand it. Later cameras use canbus to read the steering values off the bus and apply turning lines. There’s nothing in any of that that needs anything additional.
You’re right, don’t know which bus wires. Would need a wiring diagram. I might see if I can find a late model camera and make this a project.

Whilst the a rear view camera is nice to have, with tracking lines being a bonus, nothing beats looking over your shoulder (or rear view mirror at the very least).

I just can't get around to trusting the views from a camera.
Having said that, my prime use for it is for hitching up (for which it's invaluable). Thumbs Up

The SASM puts the steering angles onto the BUS which is why you need it but I would assume most of not all Disco will have it installed for other devices anyway. I’m pretty sure you will need a CCF edit as the CAN needs to know what is on the BUS. It may know there’s something there but it doesn’t know if it’s a camera, a reverse module, Seat ECU or something else. Hence why when retro fitting surround cameras you need to edit the CCF as the CAN can detect the module but doesn’t know what to do with it.

On a side note, does the later 14 to 16 reverse camera display graphical bars in relation to the parking sensors like the surround system?
