Rear Diff Information required please

So I have a leaking rear diff, clearly to do with pressure as after a few issues with the fill plug it has now migrated to the offside driveshaft seal, which is also fairly new.

I am trying to find out exactly how the breather works. I know the pipe is clear for the breather but I can only now summarise that the blockage is at the top of the diff where the pipe enters the diff.

Can I just poke a screwdriver in there to clear it and then change the oil again or is there some sort of one way valve to release pressure but not let anything back in?

Thank is advance!!!

I believe the breather terminates in the body behind the left rear light, perhaps applying a small vacuume (suck)here would prove more with less risk initially?

Thanks for your reply πŸ‘πŸ»

I have already removed the pipe and ensured that it is clear, you are however correct it ends in the body, behind the fuel cap and runs alongside the fuel filler pipe.

I will give blowing some air a go in first, just wondering if there is a non return valve in the top of the diff where the pipe attaches that may prevent air or any other tool from going in.

I don't think there is a one way valve.

😊

Will have a go at gentle pushing a screwdriver into the top of the box and see if there is an obstruction πŸ‘πŸ»

Will post an update once it’s done but there I’d definitely a blockage!
