Rear Door Locks - replacement recommendation |
|
The left rear door lock has started to go on my 2014 D4, there seem to be a whole host of replacement makes out there at a variety of prices. Any recommendations as to a good make or reputable supplier please.

Hi, my rear drivers side locking mechanism has partially failed (it requires me to press the lock button (remote or door) twice to lock the vehicle and for the mirrors to fold. I was quoted A$800 for new one fitted by dealer
My car is a My13 D4 SDV6, so out of warranty
Can this part be fitted by any auto mechanic? regards
Peter

Advanced Factors, presumably the most expensive is genuine LR

Pleased to say Dan at Duckworths sorted me out on this at a very reasonable price, went with general advice of buy genuine rather than buy crap twice. Pretty easy to fit as well.

The guys above are all right, I thought I was being clever fitting a door lock from a certain suplier that provides everything in a blue box that should be called S***Part. The door locks easy to do but after a fitting it it felt like is was about to snap as soon as I opened the door. I now have a LR one ready to fit. Buy once and fit a LR one.

What did you expect from a part that was a third of the genuine LR price?
FWIW, Britpart also sell OEM + Genuine parts too. Perhaps dig a little deeper next time My D3 Build Thread

Your dead right, if the price is too good to be true you'll probably regret it. Leeson learned, I'll get over it .

Yep genuine is the best option.
I even tried buying the motors inside and stripping and putting the motors in.
Worked ok for a while, then they packed up. Too poor a quality.

Take the whole outer handle off when you do it. It makes it a lot faster in the long run. If you've got keyless entry its almost impossible to get to the top connector for the third motor.

Just replaced my right-rear door latch with a genuine parts replacement. I followed the instructions in the site wiki, and it was relatively easy.
My car is a D4 HSE Lux with keyless entry, so there is a couple of extra plugs to deal with. Also, there is no cable tie to secure the interior release cable to the latch, it seems the clip is different to the wiki and a little easier to use.
Forget the bit about struggling with the exterior cable. Just remove the handle, and do it off the vehicle. Much easier.
