Rear Mud Flaps

Can anyone advise on fitting rear mud flaps.

Do you need to remove the wheel to gain access to fitting points Question

Also any pointers on best place to look for them, in terms of price.

yes you do need to remove the rear wheel to be able to tighten the screww sufficiently, I didn't do them myself because they are a b***er to fit, my dealer did them.

Try Dan roberts at Duckworth Landrover, he may be able to help on the price.

Thanks Dom Smile

Do you think that I might have a chance tightening them with a socket set wrench Question

If you've not already seen it, the LR Owner Info site has fitting instructions for all the accessories in PDF format, might help you find out what's involved.

The guys on the RR Sport forum have been fitting their own mud flaps, so it can't be that complicated Wink

I agree they don't even help by responding with prices for what they sell stuff for. I Emailed them about a number of things I wanted and got no response whatever. So. They didn't get my business even though they keep getting recommended.

Jim, I fitted mine without removing the wheel. I just raised the car to off-road height and used a small 'stubby' screwdriver.

The only place I could find selling them, other than the dealer was LR Supermarket https://www.connectstores.com/lr/sp_35340.html but I think the price is the same as the dealer price anyway.

Thanks Martin, that is a site I had never known until now Exclamation Just look at it and seems to be an easy enough job.

I found a guy who lists a lot on eBay for LR Stuff (used him for my Freelander), as yet no Disco 3 items. I emailed him and asked if he can get D3 items and he said just let him know what I was after.

Ebay User - steve777red

He quoted £34 excl. VAT for Mudflaps Front or Rear which is around 16% off LR Dealer Prices, and very keen shipping costs.

I have removed and refitted front and rear mudflaps and provided you have a socket set or small screwdriver it is a piece of cake. However there is one of the screws that actually goes into nthe chassis and you have to ensure it is well tight so that no water penetration is possible.

Just fitted front and rear mudflaps Smile

Front ones go on very very easy, infact found myself re-checking them as it took only a couple of minutes Exclamation

Rear ones a bit more tricky, although still quite straight forward. You have to fit a small angled piece on to an existing bracket which is between the exhaust shield and the wheel arch, quite tight for larger hands, although the heat shield can be bent slightly to give better access and then bent back. The exhaust itself gets in the way of using a long screwdriver, but using a socket set with a screw bit fits ok.

Are mud flaps not standard on all models anymore? I presume they changed that on the '06MY if so Sad

No they are not standard on the 06 model Crying or Very sad

Had been given brochures on 05MY and was fully expecting them, but when the day came to collect there wasn't. Had a couple of conversations with Sales Manager as to why not and what would they do, only to be told that they would need to be purchased and retro fitted as I hadn't asked for them to be fitted for delivery.

A bit rich as why would you ask the question if everything you read said they were included Question

Bottom line was if I wanted them, I'd need to pay for them and fitting. So I told them to forget it and did it myself.
