Rear Parking Sensors

Hi,

My rear offside corner parking sensor isn't working. The other three are clicking away nicely!

My question is: As I can get my hand up behind the bumper to the rear of the sensor, is it possible to pop the sensor out and swap it for the rear near side corner sensor, without removing the bumper?

If I can swap the two rear outboard sensors then I'll be able to tell if it's a wiring or sensor issue and save a lot of time and hassle!

Thanks in advance! Thumbs Up

I replaced my nearside rear sensor from underneath without bumper removal..... i'm sure it should be the same for the offside.

Its a bit fiddly but once you have released the clip on the sensor it should 'tap' inwards nicely with a wooden drift or something so you can remove it.

Fitting is reverse ie inside out...... hope this helps

So they should click when working?
Easy to hear when testing?
Thanks

Ah so I pull it out inwards rather than push it out from behind the bumper?

Is it a press in clip of some kind? I've been looking at photos of them on ebay but it's not clear.... Rolling Eyes

Yes, you have get up fairly close to hear them clicking but it's quite obvious. Thumbs Up

There are 2 or 3 clips on the rear which can be tricky when muddy.

eBay item number eBay Item No. 331773332462

I use a socket on the front to help push it thru.

The clips are part of the bezel which stays in the bumper.

I had a look and a feel around this afternoon, but it was so cold my fingers were going numb! Rolling Eyes

I could feel how the sensor sits in the sleeve of the holder and I think that I'll be able to get it out. Fiddly as hell though! A job for a warmer day! Wink

I tried to hear the sensors clicking today and couldn’t hear anything.
Without the engine running I couldn’t seem to get the sensors active and beeping - with the engine running I couldn’t hear anything but engine!

Am I missing something really obvious and simple here?!?!

Thanks Smile

ok - I tried this and couldn't hear anything.
Think I must be being a complete div!

I moved my hand over the sensor with my ear close to the bumper - can't hear any clicking.
do I need to be inside the car with someone else moving in front of each sensor?

spell it out for me - my brain clearly isn't working!
Thank you Smile

There are 2 possible reasons.

1. The type of fault means the system has shut down completely
2. You need a childs ear to hear the clicking really. Some adults with good hearing can hear the clicking.

think I might need a diagnostic plug in to find the fault. suppose it could be an error further back into the system away form the actual sensors themselves?

Something like this maybe?:
