Mine was Brand new, not a pre reg so I guess I don't have the 30 day exchange period. I bought it from Gatwick based on price (they were £2K cheaper than my preferred dealer of Harwoods). Thank you for the name at LR. Based on everybody's comments I have put my complaint in writing and given the dealer until this coming Friday to sort it or refund/exchange the car. I am also going to brief my solicitor as I am sure they will want a fight.
I really didn't want it to come to this, I am just amazed that you spend £40K and are treated as though you are making it up when you complain something isn't working.......I really have better things to do at the weekend then spend it at the dealer. It’s a fabulous car spoilt by people who shouldn't be representing a great Brand like Land Rover.
To be fair the latest person I have dealt with was is a Service Advisor called Dan who is the first person to take me seriously and did seem to want to help. Once you have paid your money the Sales Team don't want to know.
I will let you know what happens this week.

DG Trust me it is as simple as that, the car is not fit for purpose and by giving the dealer an opportunity to repair it you compromise your right to rejection i.e. they make it worse and then claim it was like that in the first place but because it wasn't originally claimed for you have no comeback. Mike Mulholland is not a friend of mine BUT and it's a big but, he cares about the product and the customer. Take the if you will. all i was trying to do was help
Nodsy, you're right, put it in the hands of your lawyers and let them sort it out. I must add that at 40K you got off lightly, mine cost near to FFRR territory!
And finally, DG, as Nodsy, I have also been looking at this site for a long time and have only just started to put my head over the parapet, nice welcome mate.

Well you obviously know best chap. If it's that straightforward then perhaps then you'd like to post buddy Mike's contact details here
Nothing to do with the welcome ...and if you can't take a tongue in cheek comment then WTF are you doing here TBH
At least I was giving balanced advice 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

DG well, "chap" your advice is wrong, simple. I am relaying my experience and have pm'd Nodsy if he needs the contact details. As you so rightly point out LR would be very busy so it would be a dereliction if I posted my contacts names publicly.
Tongue in cheek? More like f rude if you ask me.

But what if I or any other member needed this contact ...are you being selective in your assistance ?
As for being rude ...my comments were accompanied by smilies which indicate that I was not being rude ..but being tongue in cheek . If you really want me to be rude then please just ask 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Oh mate, don't get me started, I will obviously make any details available to anyone that needs them.
I don't want to fall out with anyone, met Ent this week and he is a thoroughly decent man, I think that, as ever, sometimes the written wrd doesn't come across as intended

Nodsy, change your dealer... mine would have fixed this or replaced the system.
Rejecting a car on on basis of the DVD players screen not working would be very hard to do I would imagine.
Call LR Customer Service and ask them to provide a solution. They generally aim to fix customer issues and do take note of complaints against incompetent dealers.

I thought I would give you an update, I have today spoken to a solicitor who whilst not an expert in this particular area has both offered me advice and offered to direct me to another solicitor who specialises in Consumer Law in the Motor Industry. The advice she gave me was that you can reject this car for this fault as it is an integral part of the specification of the car. I have also spoken to Land Rover who wouldn't put me through to Mike Mulholland, but did record the claim and speak to the dealership. Apparently not giving me a loan car contravenes Brand standards.
I have also received a call today from the Service Manager at Guy Salmon Gatwick who is a pleasure to deal with . Although he can't diagnose the fault they are changing all the components in the DVD set up including the screen. So progress at last. He wants to keep the car to continue testing as the problem has always been intermittant.
I am still bemused why this dealership doesn't take you seriously until you threaten them.
Big thank you for all your postings, I will let you know if they have cured the problem.

From what I'm reading on here it would seem that Shukers Shrewsbury are pretty good on the whole They have always been very polite and listened, sometimes a bit slow to diagnose faults, but to be fair these have been intermittent ones, they have ordered EGR valves as this is what LR told them was the problem, so will have to see if they are on back order
Regarding LRCC, they are very helpfull and do seem to care, LR was not taking the dealer seriously when trying to get a delivery date for my straight grain wood and 'couldn't' tell them a date, this is despite this kit being ordered in December last year, 2 weeks ago I contacted LRCC with the issue, they kept me updated on the progress, they contacted the dealer then the supplier and pushed it, hey presto I got a letter today to say my parts were in stock So I would say it is well worth contacting them. I'm not as good as I once was........but I'm as good once as I ever was.
