recall woes and now a fire hazard

I sent my D3 to my local dealer as it was affected by the recall work on the fuel pump on friday, and asked for a few other things to be done under warranty. As soon as my car was delivered back I noticed strong fumes.

Today I started it & it stank of diesel & smoke started bellowing out from underneath the engine (aside from the usual oil burner preheat ones !!) . My inspection has only been of the top half of the engine so far, I found a diesel leak here (picture) its not a gushing one just a dribble as far as I can tell. But there seems to be a fair amount of diesel on the garage floor, more than I would expect from this leak.

My questions are, what is this part ? would this part have been disturbed during the fuel pump work, (I never smelt fumes before) and where else I should be looking for some other bigger potential leaks that could be associated with the work that was done. ?

Luckily I have plenty of sand..........

TIA Randalls

That pipe is directly above the HP fuel pump, so I'd imagine it was disturbed, yes.

If I were you, I'd call the dealer and explain the situation (including your fears over the leak). Hopefully they'll get it recovered and investigate the leak (after all, it wasn't there before you took it in for the work) ...

Pipes that spontaneously leak have either failed, failed under warranty and your covered, or have been damaged while in for service. Either way not your problem!
