Recommend me a sat nav.
Hi all.
Well we've just booked the ferry from Hull to Zeebrugge for a three week trip into France (and maybe beyond). As we've never been to France before we thought it might be a good idea to get a sat nav. So can anyone recommend a system? Our budget is around £120.
Thanks in advance.2014 Defender 90.

I'm very pleased with the TomTom 920T, got mine for £115 a while ago, but a quick search on ebay brought up quite a few for £150 buy-it now, so I recon if you shop around you'd probably get one in budget.
We've used it all through Europe and Norway & Sweden as well as the UK - really pleased with it.LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Depends on what you want from it. The tomtom one is top notch if you only want a sat-nav and nothing more. I have the 520 unti with bluetooth and music stream and the nav part is good but the rest is pants.

Get a basic TOM TOM and the disc to cover your area for holiday. No need to go for the all singing ones as the TOM TOM 1 does a great job.

Even if a sat nav has "safety cameras" already programmed in?2014 Defender 90.

I'd go the tomtom route every time. Find the standard 'One'top noch over all of the other makes I have used - including the factory fit LR one that does my head in

though a little above DH's budget
I loved the fact I just punched in where I'm going next week and blow me there the village (1200 miles away) was on my Sat Nav screen whilst I was sat outside the house - I know its sad but I was impressed Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

I'm back from two weeks in France & found the TomTom so much more accurate than the LR Sat Nav in my April 2009 D3.
On one long stretch of road which was converted to dual carriageway at least 8 years ago the LR kept trying to divert me into villages which had been by-passed!Am I Gammon or Woke ? - I neither know nor care.

Except for Switserland there are the GPS speedcamera positions not allowed either.
I used Tomtom they are Dutch so they are good.
I bought one for my mother and mother in law ages 73 and 81 and they are able to operate them so they are userfriendly.
I use my D3's satnav and it always brings me were i want.
