Anyone know of any good garages/mechanics near Beckenham (Kent/G.London)
Left the MOT too late and now need a CV gaiter replaced by the middle of next week!

Can't advise on a garage but have replaced my n/s front inner cv boot myself. Not too bad a job tbh. 2006 TdV6 HSE.

If I had a decent jack I would give it a go.
I did read getting the driveshaft out can be a real pain - did you run into any issues?

I used a normal 2 tonne trolley jack then put on axle stand. I left the inner part of the shaft in the transfer box and just removed it that way.
Which driveshaft and gaitor needs replacing? 2006 TdV6 HSE.

Same as you, inner nearside.
I do have a 2 ton jack which I used to change the pads, but really didn't feel save as I had to balance it on a couple of blocks of wood to get enough height to get the wheels off and the stands underneath.
Didn't think of only taking the shaft out and replacing that way - food for thought

I tend to get as high as I can with the jack then put an axle stand under then use the jack to lift the arm to get the wheel off the ground. Also put her in off road mode first.
I loosened the hub nut before lifting the car. Also make sure you squirt some wd40 or similar down the end of the driveshaft at the wheel end to help it slide out as they can be a bit of a git. I removed the top drop link bolt and upper arm ball joint to move the hub enough to squeeze the drive shaft out. 2006 TdV6 HSE.

Thanks for the directions  you make it sound easy!
I will try that when the other side goes - hopefully have a decent jack before then, and won't be urgent due to MOT failure.
Got it booked in now at a local garage.
