Remap & Egr blanking but stil sluggish @ 2-3000 revs

Hi there

1st post so please be gentle with replies Very Happy

I recently bought a Disco 3 for the first time, 2009 2.7 Gs.

There was an engine management light on which configured to EGR valve fault (extremely common I am told). I was informed that remapping the car would take the lights out and remove the lag which occurs at 2-3000 revs, which probably would have been due to the EGR valve stuck out of podsition.

The remap was carried out and the valves checked, to find that they had also been blanked previously before I bought the car.

However, I am still getting the lag, but also getting the benefits of the remap (better fuel economy, torque, speed etc).

Does anyone have any idea what may be still causing the lag?

No faults are coming up with 2 seperate diagnostic checks

Thanks in advance

Andy

If you've scanned and not getting any faults, worth asking what you scanned with as if its not an LR specific tool (such as GAP IID, Lynx, Hawkeye, Nanocom or Autel) then it may be its not picking up the codes.

I got a cheap bluetooth OBDII dongle, and it never reports the errors the my IID gets, when things like bulbs blow etc

Otherwise, is it worth checking air intake to inlet manifold, especially post turbo for loose jubilee clips, split hoses or leaking 'O' rings? Perhaps theres an issue causing a small post turbo leak thats resulting slightly flat performance that isn't serious enough to be faulted by the ECU?

Wild-assed guess, but I'm looking at a similar issue that has gone largely unrecognised until now, but seems I have a leaking 'O'ring at the throttle body.

Welcome to the best Discovery web site on the WWW Thumbs Up
We will try and be gentle Laughing What remap have you had done, Discovery’s are very particular about which remap is done, there are probably only 3 recommended suppliers, a reputable re-mapper would have checked the EGRs before the remap not after.

It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Make sure the butterfly valve has been removed, I have had several lately that had been half blanked and the butterfly valve still in position.

Search on here for clean your MAP sensor now
Bear in mind MAP and MAF are two different things so do not get confused.

Many thanks for all of the suggestions.

Tbh I am not sure what software was used with the diagnostics, I am a hairy assed construction guy who's mechanical knowledge is miniscule. But I will check with the 2 diagnostics guys.

Having had one of them in the car tonight seeing the issue for themselves they suggested it may be fuel starvation ad the car still wants to go but is being held. He suggested as part of the process of elimination to change the fuel filter as it has been known for services being carried out to "forget " to change the fuel filter.

Failing that I will then get them to look at the various air filter hoses as next stop.

Again many thanks for the help, I will help you updated for any future potential reference

Cheers
Andy
