Removing the inner tie/track rod end nut |
|
I found some play in the joint of the inner tie/track rod causing a "klung". The workshop manual states that I need to undo the nut. Looking at it this morning I didn't see a nut but just a round outside part of the joint??
Didn´t I look right?
Was a bit in a hurry to catch the 13.30 Holland game.
I also had oil dripping out. Is this normal? CLUB ILLEGAL CAR WASHERS

I replaced mine not so long ago, im sure there is profiled edges so a spanner can fit on and i think i might of used mol-grips on the "steering ram", dont think there too tight on?. Not sure about the oil though, i did put some grease on mine, could be that?

If it is oil then perhaps you might be unlucky enough to have a seal gone on the rack, i did find that the grease i had in before i changed it had "melted" you if you know what im saying?
I bought the track rod ends seperate, they were about £24 and the inner were about £15-17 as i can recall. Its not that complicated a job, just be sure to take care with the rubber boot as i ripped the first one i had. Im pretty sure im right in what ive said?

The original inner joints didn't have flats on them, but new ones will. They really are not tight, much to my amazement.
