Removing RAI
No, it's not for sale so vultures stand down!!!
Went to Autoglass to replace windscreen only to find that they couldn't do it with the RAI fitted. Didn't have the accessories fitting sheet with me nor any tools so headed home. Inverness stealer couldn't book me in til 8th March and was talking about 1hr labour to take off and same to refit.
Had a look at the crib sheet, looks easy enough to take off and then refit, is it?? Is it OK to drive with it off as A pillar trim is there, just with a hole in it (cover with gaffer tape)?? OK, will not have the nice trim but anything that might suffer/fall off??
Thoughts peeps?

It's a piece of p!ss Derek.
Remove the top and then inside there's an allen key bolt to remove
[which secures the top to the 'A' Pillar].
Then remove the 2 x bolts on the main body.
You can drive no problem without the RAI and no need for gaffer tape.
an 'hours work' .... they're pulling your plonker 5-10 min each way I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.
Isn't there a small collar or similar in the A-trim that you'd need to recover too? Can't recall.
And what a bunch of jobsworths! This is a 5 minute job, tops! What the hell is stopping them doing it themselves?I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I would say 10 minutes taking it easy including a 5 minute tea break...
As Al mentions, there is a small spacer (like a very thick washer) that goes in the hole in the top of the A pillar trim - don't lose it in the 2 foot of snow that is likely to be under your D3 Derek 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG
