There are two torx (30's I think) screws underneath the cowl to release the two halves, then the cowl separates into a top and a bottom
Undo the screws for the clock spring and unplug the wires, then you can remove the 4 screw for the stalkesAltox GSM FBH controller thread

Fully extend the steering wheel column. The top half of the shroud just unclips (x4) and the lower shroud has 3 torx screws. If you have an adjust level this should be lowered to aid removal of the lower shroud. Steering wheel does not have to be removed with this method.

I wouldn't bother removing the steering wheel just for the indicator stalks, just remove the cowling three screws and it should just clip apart as Robbie says. Bodsys Brake Bible

I thought I would update this.
The work was pretty straight forward in the end.
Once you extend the steering column out and up:-
1. Unscrew 3 screws at the bottom of the cowel (note that the third one is deep toward the front. Also watch out as it may fall into the dash)
2. Gently pull off the top of the cowel. It's just clipped on.
3. Then unscrew the two screws holding the stalk.
4. Unplug the wire connector
5. Then slide off the whole unit.
Rinse and repeat on the other side. D4 HSE all the way

Thanks for the great write up and photo's
I think I will be making use of this soon, as I seem to be having issues when flashing the headlights, so think a new stalk is called for and might do it myself now I know the steering wheel stays in place!Andy

is that a brown leather steering wheel?I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.
When I upgraded mine to the RRS switches I left them all attached and removed the wheel to slide it all over ,then again I guess I could have dismantled them Altox GSM FBH controller thread

Looks like it, D4 heated, but no paddles like mine It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Nice pics and write-up. Worthy of a quick re-title as a How-To and linking to the wiki.
