The 'washer tube' type tube, is the battery vent tube. I am starting to see quite a few now with bad battery acid corrosion, either from non genuine batteries with no tube, or the tube not reconnected (or trapped) when the battery has been taken out & the tube not refitted.
Regards
Steve

I reattached mine As Steve said This tube should be attached as the battery gases when charging and in the gases are carried liquid vapours containing acid

Got one of these for £43 from Equicar 4x4. Higher ampage than standard fit so a bit more umph
Also regenerated my original battery with the C-TEK clone charger from LIDL for £12, so happy all round that I'm ready for any cold weather and no HDC, etc warnings
did they mention any kind of warranty with the battery? The Bosch and Varta ones come with 5 years....but are twice the price.

No warranty (then again I didn't ask ), but going on my original LR badged battery lasted five years and is still good for a spare I was happy to part with £43 for another genuine part.
