Replacing Door Latch - HELP PLEASE !

Well my car is three months out of warranty and the passenger door latch has failed or seems to work intermitantly.

Usual symptons of needing to use the button on the dash to get it open.

I have bought the part for £47 but dealer wanted £160 to fit so thought I would have a go.

The door lining came off quite easily just need to be carfull how you remove the handle cover to get to the screws below.

To help others attempting this, I have posted below a shot of the inside of the door card showing the retaining clips. Easiest to remove from the bottom first levering off with a thin piece of plastic so as not to damage the paint. Also be careful there is a small clip at the top of the tweeter surround. Best to ping this off before removing the door surround.

There is a screw hiding under the LandRover badge too !!

... but not that easy to get to the latch.

Can anyone advise.

I assume the window motor comes out and the whole metal plate it attachs too is removed and then reach in to the latch.

My concern is I don't know how the window mechanism works behind the motor. I guess there is a regulator and cable there. Is there a best way of moving this without messing it all up and making more work?

I dont think anyones done this before except a dealer. Your best option is to subscribe to Landrover GTR for a day, the workshop manuals are all on-line, and very detailed indeed.
