@ gstuart - no problem mate Thumbs Up - I guess the angle I was looking at it from was why anyone would put a speaker behind some carpet in a platform you can stand on, that when closed with stuff in the boot and cover closed seems to be pretty pointless. Just goes to show how LR can catch folks (me) out Whistle

many thks, Thumbs Up

assume the speaker is only fitted in the hse, agree and considering it’s a load space and is in a rather precarious position

wonder if anyone retrofits a subwoofer in there, assume LRO used that position for the tail gate to become part of the sub woofer

Having taken a good look at mine this week (D4 HSE) I can confirm it’s there firstly. It is also not exactly behind carpet. There is a grill with holes in the panel that covers it. The carpet is quite thin. Also note as stated it’s a subwoofer and doesn’t need to pass high frequency so it happily works through the small layer of carpet. Yes the tail gate is mostly sealed to provide a sealed enclosure for it.
Just bear in mind while you could upgrade it aftermarket, if you put in a driver that requires more power to drive without a change of amp, you’ll likely find it performs worse. Knowing ohm rating , it’s sensitivity, and wattage rating would help for an aftermarket equivalent, but I suspect this info will be impossible to find, so you might just wing it, or replace with a genuine. Good luck.
