Discovery 3 heater only blowing cold

My first post on here guys but thanks for adding me....
So far an excellent forum and very useful info.
My missus got a 2005 s earlier in the year and the heater was non existent where heat was concerned. I checked for faults and tried the blend motor recalibration and self test and it flashed as having issues. We stripped the dash and then reconnected up the various panels and confirmed both left hand and right temperature motors were inoperative so replaced both but this didn't solve the lack of heat one bit but I've read on here mentions of checking the matrix and yes here lay another issue. The heater inlet pipe was hot but the return was tepid. We removed the matrix and replaced with a spare I had and hooray we now have heat. Tested the old matrix and it's totally blocked with pink jelly and silt. I've attached some pics for reference but just goes to show how something can be overlooked. Externally the matrix looked perfect and even with the pipes off looked ok inside. A bit of flushing and shaking revealed the issues within.
Hope this helps someone else with temperature woes because as we know driving everywhere in hats and coats wasn't fun.
