Sounds familiar
How old is your D4? (mine is a MY10 with 108K on the clock - no DPF)
I had the dread RP on and off April to August - caused by faulty TSOV - replaced, temporarily fixed issue - no RP lights but horrendous flat spots and intermittent sluggish performance, leak in inlet system and faulty MAF sensor - touching wood - been OK since mid August and about 2K
Good luck - let us know how you get on

are you actually getting restricted performance?
Could it be the water in fuel sensor housing?

^^ valid point - when I got my RP lights (Red Triangle and occasional amber engine management light) and message my performance was as flat as a pancake - zero oomph
