Australia 2010 Discovery 4 TDV6 SE Auto Stornoway GreyDiscovery 4

I am hoping that the thread has not died out.

This is something I am interested in. Just picked my D4 up (a 2009 model), so had no choice on the installed options.

However I have seen this on e-bay

Does the Sat Nav screen have video input as standard or are the units configured in the factory?

Thanks

The nav screen has 3 inputs on the back

There is a 6 pin plug ... 2 pins for each input.

To make the reversing camera work automatically you would need to change the setting in the ccf file

Wiggs,

Thanks for the quick and promising response. I take it I would need a device to change the ccf config, or a friendly dealer?

Hi Wiggs, is it obvious which of the spare pins in the 6 pin connector to use? If not any chance you could post a photo??? Please. Also do you know if the cheap cameras work, they appear to have an AV plug?

Regards Ken

PS I have a fault mate for the CCF

Left hand connector is the tv / reversing cam / venture cam ....right hand one is the one for updating the navigation software

Pins are 123 at the top 456 at the bottom

You need pins 2 and 5 ...so middle row top and bottom

2 being the video input and 5 being the ground ( shield )

If its like the rangerover ...its default camera setting is NTSC

You can use any make of camera ..just cut of the RCA plug and wire it to the 2 pins

Thank you very much Wiggs,

I will definately give that a go! Another question if I may, is there a power source in the tailgate for the camera or does it need to be drawn from the reversing lights? If so would that not not upset the car computor? 3 questions in the end I guess

Again thank you

Ken

Not sure in the d4

I took mine from the rear aux 12v socket as I diddnt want it powered up when ignition was off .

Also that way you can watch while driving if need be ( you can't if it's powered via reversing lights )

This is all sounding very promising and affordable, as I doubt I would get the gvif unit option past the better half!

I have also found out that Triumph Rover Spares here in Adelaide have a Faultmate so they are able to re-configure the car form me too.

Anyone got any camera recommendations as $30 from e-bay sounds too good to be true.

I got mine from Hids4u, $30 is about right but you may want to check out with them. I have a CCD one (I think) as a reversing cam with great detail, color and a CMOS one on the back of the caravan with far less image quality.

So I see. You could always contact Ian (member hids4u).
They do a deal for a gvif including camera for 199 pounds at the moment for Disco3/disco4 members, it is discussed here on the site as well.

Thank you for your advise Wiggs,

I never thought of having it powered up when ever the car is awake! So from that I assume now that the switching is done at the display (by the computor) and not as I thought, when the camera is sending a signal.

To watch it while driving, is that only through the diagnostic screen? or is there another way?

Regards ken
