Retro Fitting Cruise Control/Steering Wheel Radio Controls

Hi,

I am sure that this has been covered before but I can never appear to find on other threads the exact answer to the questions that I have...

I have a 55 D3 TDV6 Base Model, what do I have to do to retrofit the Cruise Control and/or the radio buttons...

Is it impossible to do both etc etc

Thanks

fly...

wiring all there and will work straight off
XPD500500WVH

The crusie is slightly different as wiring is all there to fit but may not be setup on the CCF file for enabling so may need TFC with his box of tricks to enlighten the car for you basically suck it and see, fit the switches and if cruise does not work call in the big guns Thumbs Up
XPD500591WVH
£34.64

part numbers and prices are quoted for 55 pre 6A chassis car Thumbs Up

Hardest part is getting the air bag off. I used an old wire coat hanger to make a removal tool. You do need to give it a good old tug for the clips to pop. Also before you start take out the 4 Torx screws at the back of the steering wheel then start the sleep proceedure. This way you can turn the wheel and take the screws out easier. Other than that it really is easy. Just done mine on my08 GS and I did need the cruise enabling.

Hope that helps

Andy

Andy, what do you mean by the sleep procedure?

So you don't get a face full of airbag you need to disconnect the battery.

This is how I did mine.

Left car parked up for a couple of hours, although if the EPB light has gone out you should be fine.
Then disconneted the battery.
There is a small slot on each side of the steering wheel. This is where you need the airbag removal tool. Basically a small hook. As I said you do need to give it a good tug to release the retaining clips.
The rest is simple just remember to remove the 4 Torx screws before you start. This way you can have the ignition on so you can turn the wheel and get at the screws easier and not struggle like I did.

Hope that helps.

Andy

Polmark: "Sleep" just means that the car has completely shut down. Just open the bonnet, remove the key, close the doors and wait until the red parking brake light goes out. Then she's "asleep" and you can work away with disconnecting the battery...

If you don't mind a spin to Waterford, there's a guy down here who'll activate your CC - he's doing mine and a few other bits once everything arrives in the post Very Happy

Just a quick post to say thanks for all the forum advice and fantastic service fron 'The Large One'
My steering wheel switches arrived two days after ordering.
Just had them fitted by by Keith of Forest Landrover at Henley in Arden, cruise control enabled by him.
All works great.
If anybody knows if this same cruise control upgrade can be done to a D4 please let me know.
