I take it you had the other wheel working, so would not the new one work without having to plug in the IID ?

Hi
That’s a very good point , indeed the current switches are in full working order
So as u say might not need to plug the iid in and leave it on its current setting
Will update the thread when I fit the new wheel
Also reminds me , I’ve got a Nokia 7w box which I intend to plug in, hopefully my iPhone will then work via Bluetooth and the steering wheel controls
Thks

Hi pete , thks as always
That’s a shame , it was pre wired in when I got the disco , unplugged the box when I thought it was originally causing the battery drain
Is has its own speaker , mic and a small silver dial thing on the dashboard
Alas don’t know where the wires connect to, the box connectors are in the passengers footwell and disappear into the centre console , will have to pull the radio to find out where they go
May i ask will I have to buy a Land Rover Bluetooth box then please for it to work via the steering wheel , or can I buy a universal one
Many thks as always for the great help
PS, apologises , will have a search as I imagine it’s already been discussed

IMO, you don't need to go after market for anything other than streaming music.
The LR bluetooth would be a good investment esp if you already have voice control. The LR bluetooth, although not perfect, does work very well for incoming and outgoing calls plus, if you do away with your existing factory fit radio, you'll not only lose the clock in dash ( COD ) mod if you've activated that, you'll very probably lose the steering wheel controls for the ICE too.
Seeing as this thread is mostly about the steering wheel upgrade, surely it would be crazy to fit it and then remove some of it's features when you should be making it more of a worthwhile investment?
Just saying. Mods:

Regarding the steering wheel controls you can still use these with an aftermarket stereo by fitting a Connects2 harness however you would still lose the COD.
I've got a head unit from the same seller and they supplied the Connects2 with the unit just need to fit it at some point.

Thk u so much and indeed I didn’t realise that , ur spot on as I certainly don’t wish to lose things after going to all this trouble of upgrading the wheel
There is a voice activated button on the D4 steering wheel, will have a look then for the LR Bluetooth boxes
Thks again as always for the fantastic help , along with having the patients of a saint putting up with my questions

Do you currently have voice activation?
There should be a button to the left of your steering wheel.Mods:

Hi
There is a button there on the D3 wheel but doesn’t do anything
Did look in the front light and there’s no mic in there either
It only had the Nokia 7w module fitted which also didn’t work , it has a mic, speaker and small round button stuck to the dashbiard with Velcro
New D4 wheel has the voice activation button on the RH side
Looks like I will have to buy a few components on top of the Bluetooth box , don’t know if I also need any looms because mine is the base model
Thks again

Try your Nokia kit in the mean time.
Wouldn’t by that Loom until the expert confirms. Could be dealer fit
I believe you buy a D4 BT module and connect a small number of wires

Hi pete
Thks, will plug it all back in and see what it does
Indeed , won’t buy anything until I know more , from searching the forum it looks as though the LR Bluetooth box fits behind the passengers side boot panel
Noticed there are some connectors hidden there but never investigated them further
Thks as always

Factory fitted BT is fitted at the rear of the car.
I believe when the D4 BT is fitted you put it at the front of the car.
To test nokia:
Check the red wire has power
Check the blue wire has power when the ignition is on.
Plug the nokia box in and turn ignition on to provide power to blue wire.
Search on your phone for CK7W and pair with code 0000
iPhones 4,5,6 are known/tested to work with these
The bluetooth symbol in the top corner of phone should be bolder when its connected (at ignition on) (god knows what they did at IOS11 though)
Now when you make a call it should give you the option to route it thru the nokia kit.
Incomming calls should go thru the bluetooth automatically
Turn the nokia silver ring to increase volume.
A short press of the noka button will answer call.
A long press will reject. (not always easy to get that right!)
3 presses is redial.
If the yellow wire has been connected to the headunit the radio should mute.
