Is retrofit possible?

Hi,
I have a disco 4 sdv6 2012, row spec (I'm in Argentina), which does not include the FBH. Is is possible to retro fit it?

Thanks,
Juan

Hi, take a look at this post, about half way down.

https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/fbh...ow.207143/

Describes how to fit, however worth checking that your car was pre-wired before spending the cash one one.

Hope it helps

I like to add, that they always can be retrofitted as parkingheater....

As auxiliary heater it may be needing the oem wiring, but a parking heater wiring loom is reasonable simple to make yourself.... as it basically only needs 12v and a cut in two of the cooling tubes/hoses
And a fuel pick-up
for the fans you need an IPCU though, or Webasto, or Altox, or alternative....

You can also add them to petrol vehicles, although you need a petrol FBH then Wink

(I once fitted a diesel FBH in a petrol engined car, with a 2 liter auxiliary fuel tank, filled that up once a week Wink )
 Best regards
Harold

Thank you guys for your help and ideas! I still need to check and confirm my disco is wired. I'll share updates once I make progress with this!

Thanks Kevin for sharing this post! It's very useful.
I was able to confirm that my D4 is prewired, both electrical connectors are there, so that's not an issue.
I'm still trying to confirm whether the fuel line is there or not; and I'm also having issues to understand which water hoses are the ones to connect to.

If anyone has pictures on these connection details (fuel and water), and can share them, that would be great!

Thanks,
Juan

Thanks Harold for the idea! In fact parking heater is what I want and I believe it would be easier than doing a complete retrofit of the webasto fbh.
Do you have any suggestions on an auxiliary heater that will work? And more importantly, I can't figure out in which place of the water hoses I need to cut and plug in the heater. Ideas are welcome!!!

Thanks,
Juan

First...... and this is important...

Do NOT confuse auxiliary heater with parkingheater....they have different software by default...

Sometimes there is a “in between “ like in the D3 and 4, but since you are looking for a parkingheater
Lets “forget” auxillary and LR factory retrofit for now....

Both eberspacher and webasto do sell “generetic” parking heaters who can be build in almost any car...

Quality of both brands.... equally IF you buy the ventury model from Webasto......(eberpacher had ventury burners for cars 15 years earlyer than Webasto who used to use “meshwire” burners for a very long time...)

Eberspacher and Webasto models and sets like this (look at the “hydro” units NOT air)

https://standheizung-ersatzteile.com/stand...eselmotor/

Since you need a big one... and a diesel....

The concept of fitting is easy...

12v
Fuel
And fit it in the coolant circuit...

Where?
Here!

Tbh, just cut a hose... and fit it in between.... so the coolant can circle.... heat goes first in the heat exchanger cabin, then the engine and back in the heater...... an external waterpump will pump it arround, heater wil heat the coolant up by one or two degrees per “cycle”

(Drawing is maybe confusing with my text, but flow in this drawing is actually like a write. Because of the magneto valve in this drawing.... without such a valve, the flow needs to go also first TO the cabin, second
To the engine...)

Sets, like above mostly include a fbh, a dosingpump, a waterpump, some hoses and couplings, fuel line, exhaust...

Clock, remote or gsm reciever are mostly extra, so you can choose.....

For FULL parking heater function, you need a IPCU programmed to your car/aircon/heating unit

Webasto, sells them, eberspacher, but also altox.....

In my gallery is a translated manual, for fitting a IPCU in a D3, but i do not have one for a D4, since i stopped trading in FBH units before the D4 came out Wink
 Best regards
Harold

Harold, thank you so much!!! This is great info!!! I'll browse webasto and eberspacher webpages to see what option would be suitable for me. This looks great, thanks a lot!
