River Crossings.

Hi All

Have D4 with snorkel and going to be doing some water crossing in August to absolute deepest mid door level. - any deeper and I’ll pass.

My question is what is the lowest piece of electronics that will fry and immobilise the vehicle if water gets into it - if you are unlucky (or stupid) enough to get seriously swamped in a water crossing.

I think the ECUs are sealed units (?) but not sure what their IP rating would be.

Cheers
Harry

Hi DSL - Ahh yes but he’s still moving so the interior is not flooded - my question was assume he’s bogged in that same spot for a couple of hours and the inside of car floods - what is the lowest critical electronic bit that will fry first. I mean this type of flooded:

Hi Ken - yes it is a safari snorkel properly installed & tested - incl sealing the little drain valves on the air filter box.

The old girl is on her third engine...
* first ran a bearing (design failure in original engine)
* second had a failure of the water outlet on top of the engine (pls check yours)

I assume those on the axles/diffs - but trust an expert in wading rather than me - I try to avoid deep water!
