I hope the pictures give people the confidence to give it a go rather than put up with a dead FBH or pay through the nose at a dealer. I'm always happy to help members who pop round but once they see it all in action most feel confident enough to try it themselves. All part of the Land Rover experience!

I think this is a great thread. So much so that I've tried to buy the obd breakout cable that is in the link but the company selling only takes bank transfer as payment. Unfortunately, my online banking won't allow me to do international payments at the moment.
I can't seem to find the same breakout thing on eBay or amazon or others.
Does anyone know of anything similar that will work?
Thanks
James

I find it very strange in this day and age that an international website relies on bank transfers.

Some have wired their own female OBD sockets or used a breakout box. Another option is one of these cables, but they cost more and you need a further lead with banana plugs to link it.

Martin,

I have just ordered the cables to connect the FBH to the OBD socket from the site store last night, I didn't see this bad boy!! how much are they?

My FBH is Inop and I would very much like to get it working,

Thanks Robbie for finding that. Martins solution looks good also.

Martin, I too would be interested in a test loom. Something straightforward that I can just plug into my laptop would be great. Let me know what the cost is please.
Regards
James

After using the icarsoft i930 to keep clearing the locked out fault over the week end the FBH worked perfectly on my 30 minute trip to and from work today.

For the 15 to 20 minutes at 70 mph on M61 the coolant temp according to Torque app was 79 to 80 dec C but it dropped as I pulled off motorway and with engine running on car park 5 minutes later the FBH exhaust was belting out heat so I can only conclude it was running whilst on motorway to keep coolant temp up with outside temp -1 deg C.

Does the i930 tell you what the fault code is, or does it just allow you to clear faults?

It gives you the fault codes and and english description
On Friday pm went I got the i930 there where 3 FBH faults one of which was failed to start. I didnt make a not of other two unfortunalety. However I did a few short trips over weekend so FBH would try to start. I cleared the fail to start a couple more times over the weekend and this morning and tjis evening the FBH must have got two long runs in. I am hoping with cold weather this week and perhaps clearing the lock out as required the FBH will get more long runs and the lock outs will cease.

Then I will use Robbies lead idea to run the FBH perhaps once a week when its warmer.

£90 is about 2 visits to an Indy for a simple diagnostic download, so it will pay for itself very quickly. The only down side is that it could have been £90 towards an IIDTool. Once the mystery of using such a tool is broken you will hanker for a more capable diagnostic system that covers live data, updates and CCF edits.

It is a slippery slope!

Hi Robbie

Thank you for your post on here.
The information has be of great value and i have built the kit you have.

It works great although i have been unable to get the FBH to stay lite for more than one minute.

Have bitten the bullet and ordered a new one from Dan.

your help has allowed me to prove the wiring and controls work just not the FBH.

thanks
