Ultimately they'll wind up on a multi-plug on top of the tank - I don't know how accessible they will be there, but when it comes down to it, that's the last point you can test anyway.

If you have voltage, but no pressure - can you get a clamp meter on the +ve cable and see if any current is being drawn (i.e. could the pump motor be at stall?).

Still no joy on mine either - gauge has arrived but not the schrader connector!

Tested tonight, 0.4Bar when ignition on, 0.2Bar when running - looks a bit low to me?

High pressure

I am a new member from Slovenia with bad english ,so be patient with me. I have Disco3 (2,7D) with broken engine.I bought Second hand engine from Equicar with less then 90000 miles. I mounted it yesterday, but i could not started it. My old engine has diferent High pressure pump,as a new one. so i have to change the conectors for VCV valve and VCHP valve. I want to know if this pumps are similar,or any other idea where could be a problem. I found out that i have no high pressure, but i have low pressure from the tank to HPP.
I read your article about low pressure test, it seems to me that you are the right person for helping me.

Low pressure fuel pjmp

Hello Robbie,
I have a faulty Low pressure Pump in my Disco 3. What do you think about fitting a second external fuel pump in the line coming from the tank? This seems to be easier than to remove the tank.
Regards,
Thomas

Hi guys, Been checking over my partners 2009 D3, put a gauge on the valve in the engine bay ignition on I get 0.5 bar, engine started it drops to 0.2 bar and when driving at low throttle it sits around 0.1 bar needle remains pretty steady not fluctuating like a bad impeller, when giving it plenty of throttle up hill it steadily drops to below -0.3 bar and thats as low as my gauge goes Shocked Laughing

current was measured at the fuse 3.7 amps pretty constant

Now I do have another problem at this point the dreaded bong, HDC fault, gearbox/transmission fault, engine system fault and special programs off following fluctuating revs by ~2-300 rpm now i'm pretty sure this is due to the lock up clutch, and the oil hasn't been changed to my knowledge for 100K was previously done at 64k miles, so will be putting a new filter and oil in with lubeguard instant shudder fix, hopefully that will sort the multiple faults.

I have had the tank out this weekend and pulled the pump out, the filter on the pump wasn't terribly clogged with big particles but gave it a swill in some diesel anyway and dried it with cloth and some dirt but nothing major on it, put the pump back into the tank and put the outlet pipe that goes to the filter into a bucket, there is a 'T' piece on the end which the inline part had a full flow but the other part of the 'T' was just trickling so i'm assuming this means its not getting enough pressure?

will just a new pump fix this or do i need to get the whole module? Big Cry

The diagnostic trouble code which you can read from the ECU with a diagnostic tool. OBD 2 Tool.

Unfortunately I don't have a code, or a particularly good reader just a basic £30 job, used to have a GAP IID for my L322 range rover but got rid of it when I sold it, would any obd reader work and something like torque be any good?

If your Partner want to drive your disco for a longer time, only a good code reader makes sense. Gap IID Tool ist a good idea.

Just managed to look through some of the previous service docs, not that long ago a P0183 fuel temp sensor a voltage above threshold and P0089 fuel rail pressure low & signal amplitude too low, does that help?

These could point to the pump in the tank. If I had done all the work for removing the tank, I would buy a new complete modul.

Ok they have just dug out some more info was inspected late last year for issues, Had the tank off filter cleaned and confirmed at land rover dealer that pump in tank performance was ok and in the end they replaced the No.5 injector and the HPFP.

For now as i didn't find dropping the tank a major problem Im going to refit the tank and proceed with the gearbox oil & filter change as its over due anyway, fuel filter is only a few months old so for now thats not a worry either, will keep you posted!

Just a quick update,

Since changing the gearbox filter (what a pain that was Rolling Eyes ) changing the gearbox oil and adding 2 sachets of Lubeguard shudder fix and giving it a good few runs all problems are now gone!

Runs much smoother and quieter and i'm pretty sure the oil level in the gearbox was a bit low as I put more in than I got out!

Worst job is getting the bolts out either end of the sump, barely enough room unless you have the perfect tool!

Fingers crossed it will stay happy and I intend to change the Box oil every 50K from now on providing they keep it that long!

Hi
Can anyone point out my mistake?
I am trying to read the lp using gauge connected to the schreder valve and I get no pressure reading.... I have tried this on 3 different 2.7s and a tdv8rrs and I cannot get a reading..... I bought 2 different expensive gauges from FESTO and USAG and still got nowhere.....

any advice appreciated
