Roof mounted DVD retrofit question
Hi all,
does anyone know if the LR roof mounted DVD player needs to be enabled in the CCF? Is the latest part number VUB500822 for the fitting kit and YIP500350 for the actual player (two separate purchases)?
From looking at the fiting instructions, can anyone confirm the latter comes indeed with two IR headphones, a remote and a games controller (what's that for?)
I am now convinced retrofitting the "proper" RSE is too much for me, especially being abroad without the forum's physical support
Cheers

I can't confirm it, but I'm 99.99999% sure that it doesn't need to be enabled at all.
The LR roof mount DVD player/screen doesn't connect into the CANBus - only to power and the audio system.
I hope this helps. 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG

Cheers Paul, that's what I suspected
I have however just realised that at £1,500 for the Rosen DVD player plus £200 for the fitting kit, I'll probably be better off looking for an aftermarket solution (which I could also place on the roof behind one of the seats as opposed to the middle). I just hate cutting up the car though
Wonder if I could adapt the loom for an aftermarket player....

I fitted the rosen A7, all in under £200 at the time. gets used but not enough to justify a larger outlay.

Ahhhh!!! 7 of 9, that makes perfect sense (bet it's you watching Voyager there...)
£200 sounds very reasonable, would you mind sharing where you got it from please?
Cheers

Did you use the LR fitting kit or was it a custom job you did?

All custom fit. once you start to remove the rear light section you'll see what type and shape of bracket you need.

They do appear on the auction site that people think they're not allowed to mention 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
Any issues with the site let me know!

Just to give you more food for thought here's a pic of my roof install.
They are both 9" screens, but in my case are connected to the Video output of my CarPC, however you could easily use any other video source.
I preferred to have them like this as I didn't want anything blocking the rear-view mirror.

@ jkp: where would one source brackets if you don't mind my asking?
@ Paul: niiiice... 8) A CarPc is in my long-term plans (see here), maybe I should just wait to get all the bits and fit "simple" LCDs on the roof (did yours come with IR headphones?) like you have done - don't forget immitation is the highest form of flattery

My brackets came from the back of my garage in the 'never throw anything out as it may come in handy one day' corner

Yep, know that corner well, SWMBO's hated spot (and a frequent threat tool: "I'll put everything in the skip" type thing)
Don't think I've got anything there for this though...
