2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Manual Tonga Green

roof rails

sorry if this is answered elsewhere in the forum, could not find info after an hour of searching..2 questions.

1. I have just bought the short roof rails, do i need to cut the old cover plate to fit the gap left over or is there a replacement sleeve?

2. the bolts that came with the rails are way to big for the wholes in the roof, are there 2 types of bolt used?

for ref i'm in an 05

You used to be able to down load the fitting instruction from the LR site - some one may have the web address that would say the bolt size etc

yeh i tried the owner site but nothing downloads, it just sits there,

if anyone has success could they PM me and i'll give email address if not too much bother..

i've got bolts with the rails but they are BIG..

I reckon you have undone the large bolt, and not removed the plastic insert, which is located in the centre of the large bolt. It is often sprayed over so easily missed. Get a terminal screwdriver or knife and ping them out. If you have taken the large bolts out make sure when you replace them you silicon them back in at the same time

ok, have found the hiding plastic bits, next question..

Now that the rails are on (short version) i now have a problem, the blanking strips that covered where the rails now are still need to cover from the front of the rail to the windscreen,

do i just cut the long ones down or is there a short version available to buy, if so anyone have any knocking around?

or is this a large one.. yeovil thing..
