Rotary Gear Selector doesn't rise up?

Hi

My 2015 Disco4 has 'Rotary Gear Selector' which is playing up. It now doesn't always rise when pressing the start button.

It caught me out this morning with this, and I managed to turn the selector while it was still flat in its recess.

Do I need to replace the 'Rotary Gear Selector' complete unit?
Is it straightforward enough to DIY replace it?

Any advice much appreciated, Thanks,
 Rob

Google “ecu testing” I used them for an Audi abs repair some time ago and they were quick.

I think a few people have used them for the rotary gear issue

There should be a thread or two on here as it is a common problem.

Fairly easy to change, beware it may be possible to rotate it without stopping or having your foot on the brake.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
