I'm looking at getting my wife a D3 to tow her horse trailer and also maybe a caravan. I went to look at one last night and it didn't have a tow bar, so my question is how much does it cost to fit one and is there any advantage to getting one of the height adjustable ones???

Our last disco 2 had a factory fit one.

view forum post

Earlier post re Scottish dealers/ garages has prompted me to also ask the same question, does anyone one know the situation on Harris & Lewis ?

Any recommendations or experiences would be gratefully received.

I have a discovery 4 and we have just bought a new Bailey twin axle caravan. My issue is that when I try to hitch to the caravan my cars toll ball is lower than the caravan hitch and I have to raise the car suspension to hitch up. The cars suspension then goes to normal level and thus pulling down the hitch on the caravan. I rang the caravan club technical support and they said this is not right as the caravan hitch should not be pulled down by the car, they advised me to speak to Land Rover...

view forum post
We are off to Europe in August with the tintent and have booked an early morning ferry from Dover.
We are planning to set off on a Thursday evening after work & tea, arriving in Dover around midnight.
I am pondering on where I can stop for around 6hours to get the legs of the van down and get a few hours sleep.
I have seen campsite recommendations on the CC website but don't think this is suitable due to our late arrival time.
Other options I have seen are...

view forum post
Well it's that time of year again. We're off to Annecy for three weeks this Friday, and as always I get that severe "I hope the car behaves" feeling! It's an annual torture. Does anyone else get that feeling?

Also, we're staying at Camping La Ravoire at Doussard on the side of Lake Annecy. Has anyone been here and any tips for visits in the area?

When on a super pitch or one with mains water facility what do you use. Do you carry on using your aqua roll, convert your aqua roll by inserting a ball cock or bypass the aqua roll and conect directly to the mains water.

Off to Fallbarrow in a couple of weeks in The Lakes and looking at perchising one of the above.

Want to go to Leeds Castle in July and wondered if anyone knew of a nice Caravan Club Site nearby that you would recommend.
Setting off from Worthing so somewhere between Worthing and Leeds Castle would be ideal

Well i'm delayed going back out to the Middle East and wife is off as of this evening for over a week so decided to pack up the wagon and go for a trip out.

We have our eye on the Isle of Tiree so having to do some time and distance appreciation regarding trip up to catch ferry. I've been to Tiree only once and that was with the Army almost 10 years ago but I always remember how beautiful the island was with the whitest beaches and the bluest oceans around it ...

view forum post
_________________
"Your mind is like a parachute! Having seen an inverter for sale on the forum, I was wondering if I could use an inverter to put some charge in my vans battery if it went flat.
The scenario is that I am on a site without hook up, and my battery went flat. If I had an inverter, could I plug it into say the boot power socket, and with the engine running, connect the hook up cable via a mains adapter cable, (which I have) to the van and get some charge into the battery?

view forum post
_________________
Is it time for a brew?

Been given a van by my parents which is in all round very good condition appart from where there has been a leak around one of the front windows and the wood has gone all soft. I'm wanting to get it replaced and repaired as the rest of the van in very good and had little use.

So if anyone can recommend someone in the York area who does such work please could I have some details to get in touch.

view forum post
