rust hole in rear chassis - MoT Failure ?

I've just noticed a rust hole in the rear chassis in the part that rings the drive shaft. I've prodded back to solid metal and everywhere else in the area is solid. I know I need to attend to it sooner rather thasn later but don't really have time before Mot is due.

What's the consensus - MoT fail ?

Do not present it for mot like that, a fail for holed chassis means you will struggle to sell it in the future as people tend to check the mot history.

You can always find time, or find someone else to do it, if not you will have to find even more time after the mot fail and you have no car to use!

I suspect you will find area around the holes, and other places is hard rust scale, which you cannot weld. Maybe repairable, but expect the job to be more extensive that it currently looks. With holes in the chassis, I would remove plastic covers and check the sills.

Thanks all for the advice.

The sills do indeed look marginal from what I can see with the covers still on. The screws in the arches holding them on won’t shift and will need drilling/ grinding.

It could be that times up for the old girl Crying or Very sad

Remove clips underneath, and (if fitted) step bracket bolts, remove end covers clipped to front wing. Pull sill covers away, you can then use mole grips to undo rusted rear screws from inside the covers.
