Sand blasting - West of Scotland
Replaced the brake discs, calipers and pads this morning on the Discovery.
I would like to refurb the calipers and keep them as spares.
I'm sure the old ones would come up a treat with a bit of cleaning, anyone know of a local workshop in the West/Central Scotland area who can vapour/shot blast them?

Surely for W Scotland just put the car on axle stands, suitably parked on the beach when a hoolies blowing. That’ll sand blast them.
I know not that helpful but hey, ho.

Tend to think if you took them to a wheel refurbisher, they could do it?

Tried that. They said the media wasn't abrasive enough for rusty steel calipers...My D3 Build Thread

There’s a lace between Lanark and Forth that do wheel refurbishment. Maybe they could do something for you or try a local ornamental stone masons place. They generally have a sand blaster .Once you have defeated the idiots any job is half done. Pity there are so many idiots to defeat.

Just had another thought, was watching the repair shed last week and the guy there had a very rusty shoe expander “don’t ask”. He made up a 50/50 mix of automatic gear box fluid and acetone. Worked a treat but it didn’t say how long it was left for in the mix. Might work for you.Once you have defeated the idiots any job is half done. Pity there are so many idiots to defeat.
one of the downpours of last few days found a hole in my box of drill bits that i was too slow moving out of the rain.
steel bits i just dropped in oil, but the wood bits ... didn't want oil on them as it can stain the wood and is a to paint over ... put them in an empty plastic pop bottle, added some white vinegar and rolled it about a bit. repeated the rolling a few times over 2 hours or so, then drained and dried them. can't see any rust on them now but they have turned dull black ... not a problem though as it doesn't seem to come off..
