So to be clear "Sand Mode" does not lock the diffs then?
I didn't think it was possible to mechanically lock both diffs on the standard Disco 4? As standard it's purely an electronic control?
So the first quote says it is safe to continually use an innapropriate setting but the second quote says it can reduce the life of certain components. Hmmmmmmm Question
Remember it is a mechanical car not a digital system or algorithm. Everything's a compromise in engineering and in reality there are few hard and fast rules - and those laws that are often quoted always require a large number of assumptions (typically "ignoring friction" - WTF?).

So what is really meant by "safe" or "increased wear"? Obviously adding energy to a system in an aggressive manner will increase wear. What is far from obvious in the real world is how this impacts component life or repair costs if required. It's not a conspiracy theory from LR just a bit of engineering wisdom.

That was the whole point of my reply, although it says its "safe" to use, its not "safe" to use continually as suggested, not unless you are prepared to accept that transmission components will wear much quicker and need replaced much sooner. In my eyes then, its not "safe" to use continually, as previously suggested. Thumbs Up

Agreed !

It is good, but how much better is a remap ? AND as suggested if a re map is applied does difference become more apparant ?

I mean how do we know the values for Some re maps are not just the ones in the TR system ?

I'm not suggesting it is i'm just curious as i need to have mine mapped if it drives better than this ?

Advice >?

I don't think the remap is operative when you select a different Terrain Response? Something about each TR having it's own map, so tuners only overwrite the on-road one. Maybe Pete can clarify.

Cheers,

That would be interesting to find out, I seem to remember something a while back and Pete was involved in the discussion. Someone wanted to know if it would be possible to select the remap only when the "sport" mode was selected on the gearbox. I am sure Pete said it would be possible but I never heard any more about it.

If that were the case it would support your comment. C'mon Pete your'e the best man to clarify. Thumbs Up

Pete has said either to me via email or I've read it on here, that the map is the basis for all other modes. So a remap will affect them all Thumbs Up
