Sat Nav & Reversing Camera

I've just fitted the cable I bought from the shop and tested the camera I bought off ebay.
According to earlier posts the input for reversing camera should be the beige input.
On my sat nav this put the camera image onto the companion camera. For reversing camera I had to use the brown input.
Anyone had the same result or is my D3 HSE unique Rolling Eyes

Hi Mac Man

Sorry I can not answer your question, but I have a question too. I will be doing the sat-nav upgrade next week in my car and also instal a rev cam sam as Mac Man, but my question is, How will I get my rev cam to come on automaticly when I put my car in rev, I know I need to enable it, but where and what do i need to do it.

Best Regards
Pepe

You won't without a gvif module.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

You will with out a gvif unit Wink

It's the middle plug on the screen
Have it enabled and you run the screen in range rover mode
It comes on automatically when you select reverse and returns to the previous screen after a few seconds when you deselect reverse.

Just wire the cam into your reverse light and a good earth Thumbs Up

Easy peasy and oh did I say

Cheap

Just been reading up on this, do you need someone to tinker with it using a faultmate in order to set it up so it turns on automatically once reverse is in engaged?

As yogi972 says
Needs to be in range rover mode (on sat nav screen) and enabled in car configuration with faultmate , Thumbs Up

No givf unit needed

So Yogi and Aljo, if I understand you guys right, I will still need someone with a faultmate to enable it, even when I am in rr mode

Cheers

Hi Guys

Got my camera installed between the two 7 pin plugs so that I can correctly align the caravan hitch. This was more important than a general rear view. With a wide angle lens I can see the top of the ball hitch and a good reverse view from low level.

I activate the screen via the secret button and code 753 then select reversing camera. I leave in this position while couple up the caravan.

My camera turned out to be Pal when it arrived £11.95 post free eBay from Uk - 2 days. I select Pal on the screen and wide view and its fine - a excellent picture.

Will the RR mode give me anything better and can I activate this myself or must I get someone with a Faultmate to do it for me?

I know I need someone with a Faultmate to programme automatic switch to camera when I go into reverse.

I'm looking to drill a 20mm hole in the 7 pin plug cover to have reverse view at all times, at the moment I loose this with the cover on.

Comments please Bow down

Thanks Rolling Eyes[/img]
Yes I did vertually as yogi972 suggested. I did not take the bumper off, usd a stiff piece of wire as a pull through inside the bumper then from the exhaust up to the rear light cluster. I connected the power to the camera with scotch locks to the reversing light, having determined which was pos and neg then fed the signal cable through the top grommet with the aid of my stiff wire. From inside the access cover for the hitch storage I fiddled and got hold of the signal cable then followed yogi972's suggestion.
From the sat nav dvd I routed the cable to the centre console, managed to loop it round an existing cable loom with my hand under the rear drinks holder.(with the tray pulled out just enough room for my hand). This gave it an anchor point, then pushed the cable under the lip of the centre console to the dash.
Incidently the round bump in the bottom of my picture view is the top of the ball hitch Laughing
A bit fiddly but job done Thumbs Up
