Sat Nav volume

OMG...I must be missing something but I kinda know I'm not as I have seen posts here already but why can I not turn the volume down. I have a MY10 and have the offset volume set to 1. On the motorway with the radio volume at a very normal level the sat nav shouts at me and when I turn it down it returns to its shouting at the next instruction.......please does somebody have a solution Banging Head Banging Head

On the D3 if you have the radio volume set above 20 ISTR it will do that, if you turn the volume setting down on the radio button it will obay the the setting given when the SatNav is "speaking" Thumbs Up
This can be for two reasons, you are playing a recording (MP3?) that has been recorded at a low level or you are one of these people who like to play music at an ear damaging high volume Whistle
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

If you make sure it's the female voice shouting at you,it's much easier to ignore Thumbs Up

crip010, you're not missing something... it annoys the hell out of me too!

What we're talking about here is the balance between the radio and nav voice. Turning the main volume up and down doesn't change anything. (not long term anyway) Why can't LR just allow a -minus figure in the offset. It really can't be that difficult after all these years?

Seem like LR have taken another step backwards on the D4 Shocked , on my D3 and I have just tried it, if the volume on the radio 17 or higher I have the same problem as yourselves, but if the radio volume is set at 16 it works perfect and can be adjusted by the steering control control when it is "speaking" and stays at that level Thumbs Up

Is there really nothing that can be done?
Are there no software updates or clever programming??

It actually makes the sat nav with speech un-usable. The issue is I then turn off the speaking and miss my junction Big Cry

Try enabling the Source Memory option in the tone menu. This allows you to select another volume level for every different audio source. Then adjust the nav volume while an instruction is given. This changes the nav volume without affecting other sources.
This helped for me.

What exactly is set to 1? The automatic volume adjustment? That is not the volume control of the nav

when you push and hold the tone button it brings up a list of audio devices and their offset volume. I is the least.

Yes but for the nav this is not the volume but the automatic volume adjustment to compensate for higher noise level at higher speeds. There must be an option which I think is called source memory (not sure, my menu is German). It could be in the tone menu or the "long push" tone menu. When you enable this a dialog will come up explaining it and askingif you like to activate it. Press yes and adjust the nav volume while it is talking. Should work.

As far as I know there are no other menus apart from the one I have mentioned and this does not work.
