Not seen this one posted anywhere - all I get is the following message on the screen:
"HDLF CAN BOOTLOADER WAITING TO START DOWNLOAD"
Despite the car being connected up to a computer for a hour my LR dealer can't explain it.
Currently awaiting a response from LR Technical.

Looking on the bright side, the radio and CD still work.

Allen,
Has the DVD become dislodged in the control unit?

Thanks for the idea. I couldn't see anything obviously wrong but ejected and reinserted the disc just to be sure. It's still bust.

the bootloader code in the nav drive is corrupt! the only way to fix this is for the dealership to insert the firmware disc into your drive.
I think the update takes about 30-45 mins and is covered under warranty - i rememeber reading a technote about it
bright side.... if you have old software you get new software for free!

Yes its on Land Rover GTR, its not the same bulletin that deals with software version, but it is specific to the boot loader fault.
Tell you dealer to look at Tecnical Bulletin LA419-002 on the Land Rover Global Technical Reference website.

Thank you all. My Dealer appreciates (I think!) being told where to look for the answer.
Whatever disc they need is on the way and I should be sorted next week - I'll let you know.
Thanks again

Thanks for the help. The whatever-it-is was reinstalled a week ago and all has been well since.
It took several attempts to install the software, but other than that, no problems.

Shows what a good site this is - exactly the same error |
|
Yep, bright white screen with "HDLF CAN BOOTLOADER WAITING TO START DOWNLOAD" appeared tonight - very distracting on dark country lanes.
Tried ejecting and re-inserting the DVD to no avail then checked on here and bingo, found the answer and even the Tech Bulletin number.
Anyone know if this type problem would be covered by Land Rover Assist? Would they carry this firmware disk or is it a dealership-only job?

Think I've just answered my own question - the LR web page on Assist says 'In the event of immobilisation' - Don't think this would count
Call to the dealership tomorrow then...

Hi
Well my screen actually died about 2 months ago. with the same message.
I contact Land Rover, they suggested :-
disconnecting the battery, joining up the disconnected leads (off the battery) and starting the car. They said (Edige Lane Land Rover), that this would get the computers to reload.
I did try this , but missed the start car to clear thing, so will try this tomorrow.
They said failing this they could fixed for £75 by reloading the computers at the dealer.
Can any one tell me if they have another way before I try and blow myself up again tomorrow discovery , the great train robbery, its all rip off .

my LR3 is out of warranty do i pay for this.if so how much? |
|
Hi All
thanks for all the replies, when i first posted a reply, didnt get chance to read entire thread.
made a note of the tech number and will call land rover and as my car is out of warranty get a quote
for them to fix,
but my question is if this is a recall error ,would you have to pay if its out of warranty.
Land Rover did do a software change to my LR3 when they had to do the great handbrake replacement, which seemed to of downgraded software; things like feul left on the lcd have gone. discovery , the great train robbery, its all rip off .

Has anyone actually fixed this without the need to travel to the stealers ?
and if they did have to go the stealers, did they get charged as they were out of warranty ?
cheers
Mart Still miss my D3
