Has anyone had any dealings with Saxtons 4x4 in Chelmsford?
They do have a lot of discos to choose from. Thinking of upgrading to a early D4.
Jamie.

Bought my latest 4 from them 2 months ago. After reading up online and on this forum I went very open minded. What I found out was they stock about 500 4x4 on site and generally turn 250 vehicles per month. Check online what the turnover was last year but I believe in excess of 12m.
Due to the sheer volume of cars turned around most stock is cleaned but not prepared fully before sale. In fairness their were some faults evident with my disco but they were all fixed as agreed. The car had a full mot and they replaced all disks and pads with genuine Landrover oem.
No faults on mine over last 2 k miles and for additional peace of mind I asked my local independent to check out and validate the key items were changed (filters) etc. And in his view the work was done.
The car was presented better than many main dealers turn out cars and the service I received was professional albeit I had to wait 7 days on delivery.
Remember that most people only report bad experiences, usually when something breaks or the negative feedback. Rarely to people go online with a positive.

Based on what little I've seen of them on Autotrader, they somehow manage to sell lower specced D4 GS as a "HSE Spec", just because they've added some bling to it.
They also have a nasty habit of fitting particularly vile aftermarket leather to what was otherwise perfectly good, original, Land Rover cloth seats.
I now deliberately skip past any Saxton adverts whenever I'm having a cheeky browse on Autotrader.

Went down there a few years ago with another esteemed forum member, seems to me like they cater for the above average rascal, with "Bracknell chrome boy" and "Blinging blad" amongst their customers.
Just the impression that I got.
Kind regards

Hmm, I was sceptical and went to Saxton 4x4 with open mind to see what was what, knowing that all car dealers can be sharks!
Found mine there and to be fair as part of PDI and MOT etc they replaced brake pipes at rear, doing a good job per Geoff. Front Disks and Pads, lower arms, couple tyres and installed towing electrics etc.
Since owning I have done lots of preventative oil changes and founds oils clean, now I cannot tell if that was done beforehand or by them, at end of day you pays your money and .........
I honestly think that at end of day go in open eyed, ignore sales blurb and make honest assessment of the vehicle and its condition and keep your fingers and toes crossed

Cheers for the replies. I'll look for a D4 more locally first.
