70s for me caned twice blackboard ruler once blackboard rubber missile twice..my dad wanted me to go to his old school but when he found out they stopped giving the cane he changed his mind and sent to one that did.
Never did did did did me any harm.

Last week, at the school my son attends, some girls of approx fourteen refused to leave the school field after lunch. Approached by the Head, one said " off and leave us alone - or I'll tell people you touched me". The Head just turned around and left them. I think that's called 'asymmetric warfare'.

At our school, boys got the cane and girls the slipper. that would upset the equality people

At my old school it was the rugby pitch.
One small teacher played for a first-class team, the head had played until he left South Wales..
Let's just say they demonstrated how to tackle, hand-off etc

Had a headmaster once who caned a particular lad every morning. Older folk probably consider it "character building" but in reality it was child abuse.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

There’s always the exception to the rule (or ruler in this case) but society has unfortunately removed consiquences from most forms of growing up taking power away from the parents, teachers, police and so called justice system. I had the cane many many times in the late 70’s and it was a proper cane hurt like for a couple hours and left you with swollen lines on your ass !! But I deserved it every time I was a little er at school -------------------------------------------------
if you cant hold on dont let go , it ill come in handy for something even if you never use it.

We had corporal punishment when I was at school. Didn't do any harm to me personally, no idea about others. One thing I would point out - the threat of a whack didn't stop us from being naughty. Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

Abolished by the time I arrived at school, didn't stop my dad dishing it out when the school phoned home.
Oddly didn't put me off either. It clearly didn't work, but probably made my dad feel better as I was suffering what he did 2014 D4 XS
