Scratch removal

Went on a laning trip yesterday night. Very Happy Went down some stupidly small lanes and the outcome wasn't pretty. What's the best way to get them out? I've never used t cut or a polisher/buffer tool before so any hints or tips welcome. The only panel that escaped was the tailgate Shocked

Cheers
Chris

I've just done a full detail on a mates D2 that was quite bad. Came up really well.
Used Auto Finesse products. But did take me 3 full days !!!!!

i an autoglym guy,

super resin polish followed by an application of extreme gloss protection.
i can also recommend the g3 products never tried megs.

on that note a few good wax layers will assist in reducing some of the scratches next time around.

the science is light bounces out of the scratch less evenly so your eyes drawn to it,
polishes/waxes fill the gap making the light bounces out evenly.

Adam - Try Meguiar's. You won't look back.

The only good AG products are the car wash and leather cleaner. (once you have used Meguiar's)

The first thing to do is just give it a good wash - some of the scratches will be sap smeared on to the surface. They will disappear after washing.

Then give it a quick waxing with your normal wax. The finer scratches will disappear. Now you can assess how much work is really needed with a scratch remover. Meguiars Scratch-X or farcella G3 on a DA polisher work well.

Thanks all, going to wash it tonight and see whats left afterwards. A guy at work has a DA polisher so will borrow that and give it a go.
Can I polish/t cut the plastic between the windows? (Apologies for the daft questions, ive never been bothered by the odd scratch but this exceeds the odd scratch limits Laughing )

All i need to do now is keep it hidden from SWMBO until its looks slightly better Whistle

I know it is a bit late..... but clear sticky vinyl before you go on an adventure can be cheap investment.

Or if you are very flush £££ get a clear wrap put on

A DA is the wrong hands can do more damage ? Question

I'd try Meguiar's scratch X. A very useful product to have in your collection. It will get used at some point, even if it don't sort this.

I would leave the black plastic alone. You have enough to fix!

There are some crazy scratch removal videos on youtube Thud

DA should be fine and not cause any damage, a rotary mop on the other hand will cause damage if useed incorrectly and will burn the paint easily.
