scratched alloys
Anyone got any tips to remove light scratching on the alloys. Got them playing in the mud so do I have to keep them as battle scars or should they polish out.

You can get them repaired but if you intend to go playing again you might as well wait until you sell the carThe End

I had mine powder coated after scratching them off-road. They look great and the coating seems to be more durable than the standard stuff. Brake dust washes off very easily, mind you I did polish them with Autoglym before fitting them which may help.

Try some t-cut on the scraches test a small section first to see if thay discolour ,thay may polish out .Then cover the alloys with a good quality car polish.

Remember Polish is abrasive (very mild to harsh) & Wax is not (Unless it’s a cutting wax )

There are many alloy wheel refurbishers around. Many will come and repair the wheel at your home.
From my experience avoid the type that grind the edge of the rim, the best I have come across sand the wheel by and then re-paint using the correct colour wheel paint.
Normally expect to pay around £35 - £50 + VAT per wheel. this mainly depends upon how much work there is, ie SE wheel has more work than HSE wheel, plus the extent of the damage.
I would recommend my guy, but I don't think he will travel to Yorkshire (nice as it is)!!
How about chroming the wheels?? did anybody chromed his wheels?

Each to their own but I wish my alloys had as few scratches on them as yours.
As Gareth said earlier the best option if you want "as new" is to get them powder-coated their are many colours to choose from. If you go for the on site grind spray & lacquer method then longevity would be a question as this repair method is more cosmetic than durable, me and a few others well we'll just leave them until its time to part ex then make the decision

thanks for the replies I used autoglym polish and then the alloy wheel sealant in the end. Didn't remove the scratches but did give the wheels more shine and they are not as noticable now. I'll leave them as is until they get any worse then look at referbishment
