Seat belt compatability

My OSF seat belt has become slower and slower to retract and after trying various soakings with WD40. WD40 Silicon and GT45 I'm now looking on eBay at replacement seat belt sets from breakers.

So question from those in the know, are the Freel2, RRS, D3 seatbelt units the same as the D4 ones?

They look the same and are quite a bit cheaper. e.g. a cheap used example here on ebay

Also a new unit here on ebay listing as D3 and D4 Compatible which got me thinking they are

I fitted a 2014 D4 one into my 2009 D3 and it worked fine, the only issue with used ones that are from an undamaged car from a different year can be the buckle as earlier ones had a different style buckle oil the belt that won't fit a later car, and vice-versa.

Also don't forget the pre tensioner could have fired on an accident damaged car, so may be useless.

Out of interest have you tried fully extending the belt and cleaning it and adding some fabric conditioner to the belt as it winds back up, I have seen this mentioned as a way to stop slow retraction of belts.
 Must stop buying shiny toys....

I am sure reels are designed to run dry, and should not be lubricated. Give the webbing a good clean as mentioned previously. Not sure if SBS belts could help http://safetybeltservices.co.uk/index.html or Quick Fit https://www.quickfitsbs.com/modern_vehicles_seatbelts.php
