Dochummer, thanks for the suggestion on the seat tilt. This certainly seems to stop the headrest being in the way but on looking at it carefully, because the drivers back is then in a more reclined position & they are still keeping their head vertical so they can look straight ahead, it actually results in their head/neck being bent forward relative to their spine!
Mobyone's suggestion of the bending back of the headrests seems great - but has anyone in the UK had their dealer do that?
True, yet the big difference is the "effort" of your spinal musculature to keep the head in an upright position - eyes towards the horizon. Your body will naturally find it easier to support the head when it's above the shoulders. In reclining the seat, yes the head is techinically in a forward posture, but it still requires less effort because the head is still over the shoulders, than compared to sitting upright with your head in a forward posture - hmmm...I hope that made sense. In the end, I'm definately in agreement that the headrests were designed poorly.
As far as bending the rods, wouldn't that be a very large liability issue? If you were to get rear-ended/in an accident, and the insurance company new you had tampered with the headrests....they may deny injury claims....just a thought...2005 Zambezi V8 SE

and I thought I was the only one complaining about the seat design being less comfortable than the D2 was. Here in the US we didn't even get lumbar adjustment until 07MY! While even the old D1 had some of that!
I got rid of the D3 and find my 07 RRSC seats quite comfortable but secretly like the D2 overall better than anything on the road -I also tried an 06 loaded Land Cruiser and those seats were pretty comfy but I kept falling asleep in them because they were so cushy
If I could only merge the cargo space height and steel roof rack of a D2, the fold flush seats and space for 2nd battery and off road accessories of the D3, and the power, handling, underside clearance, and interior comfort of the RRSC... that would really be perfect.96 Disco I, 210,000 miles - still going strong

SEATS
I want to raise the front of my drivers seat - anybody out there that has removed a seat? How hard is it?

Only 5'6", so no giggles, but the seat fits fine - although I did have to tilt it back more than 'normal' to give some space for the headrest. After a back injury 16 yrs ago I am more fussy than most. The biggest comfort change was the air suspension - a magic carpet ride (until the 'enhancement' programme).

I like the seats, they have great back support and the headrests to me are unobtrusive!
The (heated) seats are one of the very important things that attracted me to the Disco3!
Might be interesting to run a poll?Don't put it off, go for it!

I am 6ft 4, I am 18 stone and I have a pre-existing back complaint from a sporting injury back in the day when sport was fun.
I did a 10 hour round trip back to the homeland up north this weekend with no problem. No pain, no stiffness and comfy, without a stop each way.

Sitting posture is fine for me but oh how I miss an arm rest! When I had a test drive I didn't notice that the 'S' was devoid of a drivers seat arm rest.
