When did the seats change from This to That?

Hey all

Curious to know if anyone can tell me when Land Rover changed the seats in the D3 from the perforated style to the non-perforated? I think it it was 2008 onwards but would be good to know.

I've attached two example photos.. both are from HSE models.

Perforated (Possibly Pre 2008)

Non-Perforated (Post 2008?)

I think it’s a premium leather (pack?), so an extra…?

That's what I was told on this very forum.

I believe they were fitted concurrently for a while, and the highest spec vehicles stopped being automatically fitted with it at some point. But it was then an option.
Happy to be told otherwise if anyone knows for sure.

When I was looking at D4s I was moaning about the fact that the quality of the leather in my Perforated leather equipped D3 HSE appeared to feel and look far nicer than the non-perforated leather in any of the D4 HSEs I'd looked at.
It was pointed out that at the time my D3 HSE was made they came with the premium leather pack.

I have to say, I still think the look and feel of my 55 plate D3 seats was nicer than my current 65 plate D4 HSE Lux, which apparently has the later non-perforated premium leather.
The D4 seat leather feels baggy and less well fitted to me compared to the D3
Heaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.

I had the “normal” leather on my D4. The one that has two seams (or a stripe however you want to think of it) in the middle. Only later did I realize that there was a premium leather seat variant also for the D4.

I have the perforated leather in alpaca color on the D3 and like it very much.

In USA the non-perforated leather variant was sold part of an optional Luxury Package with AFS lights and some other stuff, see https://directechs.blob.core.windows.net/d...4267_0.pdf

Would love to have black D3 perforated leather seats in my MY14 D4, complete with the headrest 'horns' [if that's what you'd call them].

Because if you looked at the D3 from behind it looked like it was being driven by two Cybermen.
