Self catered accommodation high in Spanish Pyrenees

Hi,

I have a good friend who owns some really nice accommodation high in the foothills of the Spanish Pyrenees, 20 minutes from the border with Andorra.

We go over a couple of times a year (in the winter for skiing and the Summer for adventure sports).

The interesting bit is that there are loads of off road routes and mountain tracks in the area, these are drivable from the property with a lot of the local ones going over my friends land.

We have driven all over the area in the Summer and enjoyed axle deep snow in the Winter and can highly recommend it!

See here for details http://www.lacasarural.eu.com/english/elpoble/elpoble.html

If anyone is interested then just PM me as I can usually get a discount and advise on activities and 4x4 off road routes in the local area.

Everything from horse riding through the mountains, white water rafting, mountain biking, climbing and via ferrata are all available locally with skiing in Andorra or at a good resort on the Spainsh side available.

A donation to the site will be made for every booking made as a result of seeing it here Smile

I've been near that area. Local off roading...? some of the "roads" are off road before you even get to the real off road tracks Laughing
The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

Club "yes, I too have had the EGR's replaced..."
Club "yes, I too have had the compressor replaced..."
Club "yes, I too once had the car at the dealer for a couple of weeks nearly 4 weeks over 4 weeks...5 weeks"
Club "yes, I too have had EPB failure..."
Club "yes, I too get mysterious bings and bongs..."

Hi guys,

BCP - Yep! It has already been there so should know the way by now Rolling Eyes

NeilD - Yep! The family who own it run a 4x4 excursion service (well that is what they call it but it is not 4x4 as we know it, they use one of those hybred people carrier things).

The whole local area is criss crossed with mountain roads which are public roads but more like an average farm track, the difference being that they cross over high mountain passes on the one hand and through rural villages on the other.

There is also a large selection of forest and mountain tracks that lead upto refuges that are used for cross country ski and summer walking.

We usually head out for a day at a time and explore the tracks before stopping at a local mountain restaurant for some authentic Spanish fare before heading back for the evening by the log burner.

It is very nice out there with loads of other stuff to do as well but is largely untouched by the 'Brit brigade' as the Catalonia region tends to be where the Spanish go on holiday or for their weekend breaks.

What do people thing of setting up a group trip? I would be happy to organise if enough where interested.

Hmmm...let me think long and hard about that....especially as the other Pyrenees trip had to be unfortunately cancelled...

Ok - thought long enough. Think its a great idea Thumbs Up Week of May 31st would most likely work for a number of people, seeing as that was an original date for a trip.

(ps In case Discocuzzy reads this - not trying to undermine your efforts etc Thumbs Up )

I may be interested in booking one of the smaller houses for a weekend at some point.... Thumbs Up

This area is amazing....I know quite a few people who have second houses in this area and it is beautiful.

There is lots of opportunities for off-road driving, but even if you're with little ones and limited to the driving you can do, then just being in the area is good enough.
