Selling price of a used D3 |
|
Morning everybody,
I tried to sale my D3 from last year to buy a new one but forget it, no chance! What is the problem with this vehicule? I love it but it seems nobody wants to buy a D3. On the private market, not even one phone call buy a potential buyer. Worse, my dealer gives me only 25000€ for a vehicule he sold me 23000€ more only 16 months ago even though he knows I will buy another one to him, and another one (selling another brand tried to compare with my dealer) gives me the same. This is almost 50% off for one year of use. The arguments of my dealer: many kms in 16 months (53000kms) and eventhough it is a HSE with options you can have the S version for 38000€, meaning do not think we will give you money enough to buy a brand new D3 S. Arguments of the other dealer: eventhough the D3 is a great vehicule, nobody wants to buy it, there is no market for it. Great! For once that I thought I had bought a vehicule from a brand with great reputation and which would not loose its value too fast, what a disappointment! What do you think about that? Anybody had a better experience when selling his/her vehicule? What do you think of the proposal of my dealer? From my point of view, he only pushes me to go buy a japanese model when the life of my D3 is over. Whats the market for the D3 in your countries?
Thanks. See you

Keep it for several years, its worth more than 25Keuros to you and at 16 months you are still on the steep bit of the depreciation curve 2007 HSE Java Black.....sold

33000 miles in 16 months kinda explains the low price. a difficult car to sell with such a high milage in such a short term. the only thing that will sell that car is a reduction in selling price

I was offered 18k for a 2005 TDV6 S (15 months old)againts a VW Toerag, (VW Dealer) and 22k against a RRS from a LR dealer.
It was booked at 25k by Glasses Guide, but my HIGH mileage was the killer as it allways is ! my advice when doing high mileages is to keep for at least 4 years and then sell it on ebay !
i've done 47,000 miles in 15 months!

how do you ever have time to stop and post on here?!!
problem is high milage cars being sold at dealers. nobody wants them! poeple who come in for used cars are after these things
as new as possible
as low milage as possible
as cheap as possible
all of which do not add up of course....

I do some silly mileages and should really buy cars that can accept this sort of pain without burning too much cash... like a Vectra!
My more "expensive" cars have always stayed with till 180k ish .... then i look to get what i can.....
My BMW ( 194k, 4 years old) was bought by an up and coming young gent who wanted the newer shape for old shape money.... and my Volvo V70 D5 130k three years old went to a retired couple who "do about 2k per annum, so it'll soon balance out!!!!"
My TD5 went for 15k (had to have TDV6..wife thought i was going MAD), 15 months old and 54k on the clock.... the dealer that took it PX, although a LR main agent punted it straight out to trade... as you say Swiss, dealers (franchised) like nice new ex demo stock...
I plan to keep my TDV6 for at least five years maybe six, by which time it should have done 176k....... although i may unload it before that nasty looking 150k service.... thats gonna hurt!!!!! Perhaps LR would like to buy it back and see how its warn!!
So then who has the highest mileage... i'll start 47,986 1/6/05 Monthly Ave 2822.

that is a higher rate of knots than most demonstrators!!
Did it actually stop long enough for servicing and fuelling, or was that done "in flight"?

they dont have to be new or ex demo. they just need to be sellable, most customers do not see the value in buying something cheaper with a higher milage. we have bought a w reg 4.6 vogue with 30k on that will be a retail vehicle! when we have had cars with a higher miagle and a cheaper price here they generate intrest...
untill we tell the customer the milage...

It's a very worrying fact that at least £600 pm is dropping off the D3 !!
Mine is less than 2 years old, only done 6000 miles and is not worth
2/3 of what i paid for it new .
Maybe it would have been better to have bought a RRS or 90CSW
