Austria 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Auto Arctic FrostDiscovery 3

When I collect my Discovery later today Very Happy , it will be for on-road use, I expect. Much as off-road activities might be fun, I think the scope for them is pretty restricted here in Germany, apart from a few special areas.

Why did I buy a Disco? I commute for over two hours each day, mostly on motorways, so I wanted a car which should be comfortable, quiet inside (for listening to music) and safe. It should also be flexible, with plenty of carrying capacity. As I regularly drive on snowy roads in the winter, I preferred 4-wheel drive (though it is seldom actually needed here). I also like a higher driving position, which is a safety factor.

My last two cars were an Espace (1989) and a VW Caravelle (1999) and I was very happy with both. Indeed, I had ordered a VW Multivan but then changed to the Discovery, mainly because it was quieter (and also because it has a higher towing capacity, though that wasn't so important).

I'm not sure others would see the logic in my choice but maybe, in the end, gut feeling comes into it too.

Eric

A little off topic from this, but I'm about to pick up my new HSE this weekend and was wondering where you got your DVD screens fitted, and if you don't mind telling me how much it costs that would be much appreciated too

Cheers

There are much better deals than that around. £1,500 sounds pretty good for an after market Leather job (I'm presuming all 7 seats fully moo'd). On the other hand, £1,500 for a roof mount dvd system seems a crazy amount, given the aftermarket threads on here in the last few months.

Just my opinion!

It's not a roof mounted system. The DVD player is mounted in the rear of the centre console, and the 7" screens are fitted into the backs of the seats (not the headrests)

Quick tip: If you're having DVD, get tints! You'll see the picture much better!

Go for Roof mounted LR if you have rear heater controls or any retrotfit if you dont. the LR one is a nice size fits nice and keeps my little one in the back whilst driving (She used to sit in the front in the M class as the front screen worked in that one)

Hi - I think the D3 is the greatest 4WD for the elegant way it can mix mode during a single trip. Beautiful 7 seater limousine, then through the gate and across the farm (just tripped across the face of one of the dams, a 37degree slope) then through some deep mud, then into home, quick wash down, then out to a restaurant for the evening. We have a Nissan 720 with 710K kms, and a Nissan Patrol TD42 with 486K kms, and the D3 does it all over either or both of them, and as for my mates Toyota Landcruiser - not even in the same galaxy.

Landrover really rocks! Very Happy
Why have I never felt this way about a 4WD before?
